Coolest Christmas Decorations

A 16 year old (I'm not really sure if it's a boy of a girl) and his or her father hooked up their house with 35,000 LED lights and created the coolest Christmas light show ever with them. They flicker on and off along with the beat of Skrillex's song "First of the Year." I really wish I could visit Meridan, Idaho to see this in person.

Happy Holidays!

Skrillex- Ruffneck Music Video

Skrillex released this video just in time for Christmas. The video is interesting, depicting a tainted Santa Claus and an elf- I guess this is skrillex's way to spread holiday cheer. Enjoy, and merry Christmas to those that celebrate it.

Xaphoon Jones- Possessed By the Devil

Xaphoon Jones, producer of Chiddy Bang, released this tune for Christmas a couple of days ago. The song features rapping from Elbee Thrie and a beats from one of Xaphoon's unreleased songs. I suggest you check out the rap group, Phony Ppl, that Elbee Thrie is part of, they've got some really good songs.

Luke Christopher- The Tree in My Backyard

Here's the second release in Luke Christopher's series that he started last week called Marvelous Mondays. This latest song is called "The Tree in My Backyard." It's got great vocals and is the perfect track to listen to while driving. His mixtape, Building Skies, should be coming out soon, and if this is any indication of what will be on it, it's going to be great.

Skizzy Mars- Shangri-La

Here's a new track from Skizzy Mars titled "Shangri-La." He's really starting to get a lot more attention now. This one's a bit slower than some of his other songs, but still great. On his facebook page he said this about his new track:
I was in the studio last night when I realized I had just hit 10,000 fans. I’ve been writing a bunch of music recently as I continue to work on my debut project, Phases. While Phases is a story in itself, I still find myself with a bunch of other stories I want to tell due to other experiences and changes in my life etc. I got inspired to write Shangri-La and recorded it yesterday. Just another story to tell. In celebration of 10,000 fans, Shangri-La.

Snow Patrol- Open Your Eyes (Sex Ray Vision Remix)

Sex Ray Vision made an excellent remix of Snow Patrol's song, "Open Your Eyes." The Stanford University duo turned the mellow song into an upbeat tune that is more pop-y. I think the original song gets a little repetitive in certain parts, but this remix fixes that. Check it out below.

Open Your Eyes (Sex Ray Vision Remix) by sexrayvision

Rihanna- We Found Love (Klaypex Remix)

I'm not the biggest Rihanna fan, however I love her song, "We Found Love." Klaypex did a great remix of it, which in my opinion makes it an even better song to dance to. They added some dubstep and made it a bit more techno. Give it a listen for yourself below.

The Knocks- Brightside Music Video

Here's the hilarious music video for The Knocks' song "Brightside." You can snatch it off of their EP, Brightside, which is out now. This song is so catchy and definitely one of my favorites from them.

Luke Christopher- Letter to Myself

Luke Christopher is starting a new series called Marvelous Mondays, and his latest release, "Letter to Myself" is the first of the series. This is a self-produced track, and I think Luke did a great job with it. He will be releasing a new mixtape (Building Skies) soon and this newest track may or may not appear on it.

Will.I.Am- T.H.E. Featuring Jennifer Lopez and Mick Jagger Music Video

So here's a kind of strange mixture of people. Will.I.Am's latest song features Jennifer Lopez on the chorus as well an an appearance by Mick Jagger. "T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever)" seems like it's more of a love it or hate it song, and I think I'm leaning to the love it side. It has a great beat to it that will get you moving.

DJ Justin Sane

Here's a cool DJ that I had never heard of before. Here's a part of the description of him, which can be found on his Soundcloud page,

Chiddy Bang- Ray Charles

Sorry there haven't been any posts for a while, I've been really busy with school work. Professor's love slamming on the homework the week before Thanksgiving break. Anyway, here's a song that Chiddy Bang released a few days ago. "Ray Charles" is off of their new album, Breakfast, which will be out on February 28.

This song is actually not inspired by the music legend, Ray Charles, but rather by Chiddy's brother "Cheeseburger Don." Chiddy said, "the song actually started out as a joke when my brother, Cheeseburger Don, got so high he fell asleep in the studio with his sunglasses on, I looked over and he reminded me of Ray Charles, probably because I was high, too. I started freestyling about him and we laid it down right there."

DJ Chuckie- Stereo Levels Mashup

Mumford & Sons- The Enemy

Mumford & Sons made a song for the new Wuthering Heights movie. I'm not sure when the movie is coming out in America. I don't think that this is the full length of the song, but Marcus Mumford's voice still manages to be captivating even though the clip is only a little more than one minute long.

I can't wait for his new mixtape, Phases, to come out, although I'm not sure when that will be. He's definitely one of my favorite underground rappers out right now and continues to never disappoint with this new song.

Mike Stud feat. Kinetics & One Love- Bottle It Up Music Video

Mike Stud recently released the official music video for his song "Bottle It Up" featuring Kinetics & One Love. The song is extremely catchy, and I could definitely picture hearing it on the radio. The music video has got some great visuals that go perfectly with the lyrics of the song. It seems like many of Mike Stud's video's are set on the beach, so this one is a nice, albeit a bit darker, change.

Captain Cuts- Dancing With Avicii

Here's a great mashup from Captain Cuts which combines Avicii's smash hit "Levels" with The Knocks' song "Dancing with the DJ." The British duo, The Ting Tings, who are famous for their song "That's Not My Name" recently released this jam called "Hang It Up." Here's a cool Portuguese jam which is a collaboration between Dj Chuckie and Argentinian dj Nico Hamuy. It starts out really slow with only one voice, but slowly starts to pick up the pace, and more people join in on the singing. By about 1:50 in the song turns into a cool samba-dance-electro hit. By the end of the song I guarantee you will be grooving. Turn up the volume give it a listen for yourself below.

Monarchy- You Don't Want to Dance With Me Vivien Remix

There's an Indian summer taking place over here, so it's sort of fitting that I post this remix of Monarchy's song "You Don't Want to Dance With Me." It's got such a summery feel to it, that it makes me want to rewind time back to this summer.

Here's an interesting fact about Monarchy: Their first live show was broadcast into space, making them the first music group to perform live into space. I don't really know why they did that... I guess to get some alien followers. That's pretty cool though.

You can listen to the original version of the song and the remix below.

Myomi VS Sandro Silva & Quintino - Sun In My Epic Eyes (Chuckie Respect to Steve Jobs Mash Up)

So here's an unusual tribute song to Steve Jobs by DJ Chuckie. It's kinda weird that I want to start dancing to this song, when Jobs' passing was such a sad event. I think Chuckie did a great job incorporating Jobs' speech into the song, it doesn't feel forced at all. The only issue I have is that I could never imagine this playing at a club because that would be a little weird. Anyway, give it a listen for yourself.

So I happen to be a really big Feist fan, but I haven't had a chance to listen to her new album, Metals, which came out this past Tuesday. Here's a cool Hot Young Girls remix of her song "How Come You Never Go There." I'm pretty sure the original isn't this upbeat and probably doesn't have dubstep going on in it. Rostam- Wood

Rostam Batmanglij, one fourth of the indie group Vampire Weekend, recently released his song "Wood." It's not so very different from normal Vampire Weekend songs, except it has an Asian twist. I love the end of the song when the sitar becomes more pronounced (I think it's a sitar anyway). Rostam does an excellent job blending the Western sounds with eastern instruments. Give it a listen for yourself, and you can download it below.

G-Eazy- Mercedes Benz Featuring Janis Joplin

G-Eazy released a new track yesterday called "Mercedes Benz (The American Dream)" which features a sample from Janis Joplin. It kind of shocked me when it started out, because I wasn't expecting to hear Janis's voice straight away. G-Eazy has great flow on this track and he meshes well with Janis Joplin's strong voice. Here's a description from G-Eazy's website about the song:
I was digging through my mom’s record collection and stumbled upon Janis Joplin’s ‘Pearl’ record. I had heard “Mercedes Benz” before, but it had been a few years. It was one of those moments where I instantly jumped up, and decided it would be a dope song to flip. The concept is so relatable, and the passion is so present in her voice. The original is an acapella, so I wrote some chords and called my homie John Michael over to lay down some acoustic guitar parts down behind her vocal. I’m stoked on how it came out.

Check it out below.

Labrinth- Earthquake

Timothy McKenzie aka Labrinth is a pretty big deal over in the UK, but is still relatively unknown in America. He collaborated with Tinie Tempah on his track "Pass Out" which he co-wrote and produced. "Pass Out" won Tinie Tempah and him the Best Single award at the 2011 BRIT awards. My favorite track of his is "Let the Sun Shine" which has a great summery feel.

Labrinth's partnered with with Tinie Tempah again on his latest track, "Earthquake" to create a cool dubstep- electro-hip hop song. The production of this song is amazing. I really hope he gets bigger in America, because all of the tracks that he touches are gold.

Djing duo White Panda mixed together Kanye West's "Good Life" with M83's "Midnight City" which is a certified banger. When I first heard of Captain Cuts I thought it was just a one man show, but it turns out Captain Cuts is a trio. The group is made up of Ryan McMahon, Ryan Rabin and Ben Berger. The original is great, and this remix is awesome as well.
